From Jeddah to Mecca — All Transport Options

Train bus — From Jeddah airport, Mecca is only 80 km away. But with traffic conditions and the volume of pilgrims, choosing your transport can make all the difference. Here is a complete comparison.

Option 1 — Haramain Train (recommended ✅)

The Haramain station at Jeddah airport is directly connected to Mecca (Al-Rusayfah station) in 30 minutes.

• Fare: 50 to 100 SAR (~13-25 EUR) depending on class
• Frequency: several departures per hour during peak season
• Booking: Haramain Train app or hhr.com.sa
• Advantage: air-conditioned, punctual, no traffic jams

Option 2 — Uber and Careem

Ride-hailing apps work perfectly from Jeddah. The driver must be Muslim to enter Mecca (automatically verified in the app).

• Fare: 60 to 120 SAR (~15-30 EUR) depending on time of day
• Duration: 45 min to 1h30 depending on traffic
• Ideal if you have a lot of luggage

Option 3 — SAPTCO Bus (budget)

The national company SAPTCO operates regular Jeddah ↔ Mecca routes.

• Fare: 20 to 30 SAR (~5-8 EUR)
• Duration: 1h30 to 2h (stops along the way)
• Departure from Jeddah bus station (not directly from the airport)

Option 4 — Private Taxi

Licensed taxis are available at the terminal exits. Negotiate the price in advance (no systematic meter). Allow 80 to 150 SAR.
