Umrah + Indonesia — Indonesia is the most popular destination for pilgrims wishing to combine their Umrah with a trip to Southeast Asia. With over 220 million Muslims, it is the most populous Muslim-majority country in the world — and an extraordinary destination.

Flights from Jeddah to Indonesia

  • Garuda Indonesia (GA) — National carrier, direct flights Jeddah → Jakarta (CGK) or Medina → Jakarta. Best in-flight service, generous baggage allowance.
  • Saudia (SV) — Direct flights to Jakarta, Surabaya (SUB)
  • Lion Air / Batik Air — Low-cost with a connection, cheaper
  • Emirates / Etihad via Dubai/Abu Dhabi — Gulf connection

Flight time Jeddah → Jakarta: 8 to 10 hours

Visa for Indonesia

  • French nationals: visa on arrival (Visa on Arrival — $35 USD, valid 30 days) or e-Visa online. Since 2023, some nationalities can enter visa-free for up to 30 days.

Cities to Explore

Jakarta

Capital city and megacity of 30 million inhabitants. Visit the Masjid Istiqlal (largest mosque in Southeast Asia), old Batavia (Kota Tua), and Javanese urban gastronomy.

Yogyakarta

The cultural heart of Java: Borobudur Temple, Prambanan, wayang kulit (shadow puppet theater) and batik. Unique atmosphere, calmer than Jakarta.

Lombok

The island next to Bali, but Muslim-majority (Sasak). Paradise beaches, Mount Rinjani to climb, atmosphere more authentic than Bali.

Bali

For travelers not exclusively limited to Islamic destinations — Bali remains accessible and offers beaches and culture. Many halal restaurants in tourist areas.

Typical Umrah + Indonesia Itinerary (12 Days)

  1. Days 1–5: Mecca + Medina (Umrah + visits)
  2. Days 6–8: Jakarta (arrival, Masjid Istiqlal, gastronomy)
  3. Days 9–12: Yogyakarta or Lombok depending on preferences
