Hotels in Mecca for Umrah — Kaaba View and Surroundings

Your hotel’s location in Mecca will directly impact the quality of your Umrah experience. Here is a complete guide to choosing based on your budget and priorities.
Kaaba View Hotels (Abraj Al-Bait) — Luxury
The towers of Abraj Al-Bait (Zamzam Tower) house several 5-star hotels with direct views of the Kaaba:
- Fairmont Makkah Clock Royal Tower — The most iconic, Kaaba view from many rooms
- Swissôtel Al Maqam Makkah — Excellent value for quality/view, in the same tower
- Raffles Makkah Palace — Absolute luxury, pool, spa
- Hilton Suites Makkah — Spacious suites, ideal for families
Rates: 300 to 1,500 SAR/night (80-400 EUR) depending on season and floor. Book several months in advance.
Mid-range Hotels (500m to 1km from the Haram)
For reasonable budgets, many 3 and 4-star hotels offer an excellent compromise:
- Ajyad district: 10-15 min walk from the Haram, several 3★ hotels (150-250 SAR/night)
- Aziziyah district: a bit further (~20 min walk), better prices (80-150 SAR/night)
- Mövenpick Hajar Tower and Millennium Makkah Al Naseem: good value for money
How to Book?
- Nusuk Masar (required) — since June 2025, booking via the Nusuk app is required to obtain the Umrah permit. The BRN (Booking Reference Number) is generated automatically.
- Booking.com — wide selection, cancellation often flexible. Make sure the hotel is “halal compliant”.
- Specialized Umrah agencies — for all-inclusive packages (flight + hotel + transport).
Practical Tips
- Book at least 2 months in advance during peak season (Ramadan, early season 1st Muharram)
- Request a room with a view of the Haram if your budget allows — the experience is incomparable
- Check the breakfast rate — often included in hotels near the Haram
- For short transits, some hotels offer day-use rooms
